You can see another photo of her on my mum's other blog.
It had nothing to do with her being black.
The truth is, and my mum does regret it, Lily wasn't adopted with me because my mum was out of work at the time and couldn't afford to take two cats home with her. She was going through a deep depression, had just lost her dad to liver cancer and was also having to move in with her mum, my granny, after having to leave her own flat due to the fact that she'd been tormented by some really nasty neighbours from hell. My poor mum's nerves were shattered. And she longed for a cat. Suzy had been gone since 1998 and Mum wanted a cat to love. It took a long time to convince Granny to allow just one cat in the house. In defence of Granny, she does love me to bits now (who wouldn't) but she was afraid of any cat destroying the house (and she was right, because my mum says I have destroyed the house as I've ripped the wallpaper to shreds,)
Anyway, back to Lily. I do get sad about her. And Mum does too. We only hope that she got adopted pretty quickly after me and is now living happily in her forever home with a perfect family.
One day my mum would love to be able to adopt more cats. She even wants to open her own cat rehoming shelter.

We hope that this special day will help black kitties to find a forever home ! Purrs
We love black kitties here! Funny enough, my human was dreaming of black cats last night.
We always think of black kitties as good luck - don't know why some peeps think they're bad. How could any kitty be bad luck?
Suzy was a beautiful kitty.
We looked up the internet and found an interesting article in Wikipedia about black cats. Lynettea says that in countries like Australia where there is a lot of intense sunshine it is good to have a black cat, as their fur heats up quickly in the sun. That means they are less likely to lie in the sunshine for any length of time, which means they are less likely to get skin cancer.
That bit of information wasn't in the article.
Yes, we agree! They are lovely :)
They are beautiful. We love them too!
I know. Silly humans and their superstitions! Us kitties don't think like that.
That's very interesting. Thanks for sharing!
Beautiful Athena!! We just know your sweet sister Lily found a good loving home just like you!
Take care
x
Thank you. We hope so too :)
Suzy sure was beautiful. How nice of you to remember her, Athena. We remember Lily from your and Mommy's book, Athena. We are sure she got a great forever home, even if it took longer. We have two black kitties (Gracie and Zoe), and they were at the shelter for quite a long time before we adopted them. All the people who passed them up really missed out, because they are wonderful and loveable and sweet, all at once. :)
We hope that little black kitty found its forever home too!
