Yesterday I got tricked into going to the vet again. I hate it when that happens!
I knew something was up when I saw this old devil..

I knew something was up as soon as I saw my carrier this morning |
Mum doesn't have a car so once I was put into the carrier (or should I say forced because obviously I resisted at first) and stepped out into the sunshine (I resisted some more by kicking and trying to push the bar open) we had to walk a short while to the bus stop. It was so noisy out there, I can tell you. Lots of traffic and ugly city smells. I could feel my mum's own anxiety as, like me, she doesn't like being outside much. But she tried to calm me down with the light baby voice she uses, which I have to admit does the trick. When I hear her soothing voice I feel safe, but I was also worried that she may be taking me to the pet hotel again. Oh, what a nightmare week that was!
We waited at the bus stop and then the bus came along - a massive red monster of a thing - and we hopped on. People kept looking at me but my mum held the carrier with me in it on her lap. Don't tell my mum, but I quite liked the bus ride. It was only a short little ride and when Mum looked into the carrier at me I pretended to ignore her. After all, she tricked me again, didn't she? Being a wise cat, I know it's for my own good that she takes me to the vet. And it wasn't that bad this time because there were no loud dogs barking like last time we went. Just the receptionist talking loudly with another lady for a while. It bothered my ears a bit and I could tell it bothered my mum a bit too. She has sensitive hearing you see, or should I say heightened and much more acute than the usual human. She is HSP - highly sensitive person. It may cause her anxiety but I figure if she wasn't so sensitive she wouldn't be so caring to us animals so I do wish she'd stop stressing about it.

In the waiting room |
But I thought about it later on the way home and, being a goddess and cat model, I have to take care of my looks, so I will have to agree with Mum.
After I had my booster vaccination and Mum paid the receptionist we went home on the bus. As it was a nice sunny day, I think I rather enjoyed my little trip but I didn't like being told I'm getting chubby around the middle!
We call it happy fat..but the vet still makes us eat less.

Yes, and Athena is a happy cat :)
DeleteI'm glad you both made it back home safe and sound...heed the vet's advice but know that you are purr-fect!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yes, I am purr-fect :)
DeleteHow insulting to discuss a girl's weight! My human alternately worries that I'm not eating enough for a kitten (when she gives me food I don't particularly like), or that I'm eating too much! My breeder is coming to visit this weekend - she'll be able to tell my human if I am on weight for my age and size. (Honestly, I am hoping she'll say I can have more!)
ReplyDeleteI used to eat much more as a kitten because when I got adopted I was very thin and hungry. But then I grew big and strong, and a bit lazy. My mum is on a diet too so maybe we can watch our weight together!

As we get older, Athena, I think we could all use a little more exercise. I remember when I used to get really excited over the feather toys and the red dot. Now, not so much. What's a girl to do?
ReplyDeleteMum agrees. She needs more exercise and less food these days just to stay slim. We are going to play lots together to make sure we get the exercise we need!

Athena
Chubby? Nah....but we could all use more exercise!!! Glad it wasn't too bad a visit.

And my mum says exercise is good for our health too!

Athena
I don't think you are chubby at all!!! My vet told me the same thing! The nerve of them! Love, Cody
ReplyDeleteWe are either too fat or too thin - there is no pleasing them, is there?

Athena
Well, all in all, it sounds as if your visit wasn't too bad. We've never been on a bus. A diet doesn't sound too great. You look fit and trim to us. Good luck. XO, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
ReplyDeleteThank you. Mum says it's the dry food I eat that makes me put on weight but I told her I won't touch wet!

Athena
You don't look heavy to me and the camera adds pounds.
ReplyDeleteYes, naughty camera!

Being tricked and told you're chubby all in one day is tough. We hope you got some extra love and scritchies when you got home. What a day!
ReplyDeleteI had lots of love and cuddles to make me feel better.

ReplyDeleteThank you. Happy Weekend!
DeleteHow awful. You should trick your mom too with a 'surprise' visit to the hospital and lots of horrible exams. Glad you are fine, though.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the dentist. She is terrified of that!
DeleteUh oh, da dreaded "diet" word!
