National Unwanted Pet Week #NUPW

National Unwanted Pet Week
Athena is supporting Wood Green National Unwanted Pet Week

Today we are supporting Wood Green the Animal Charity's National Unwanted Pet Week, the campaign that highlights the plight of the countless of unwanted, homeless pets.

Every animal deserves love, security, warmth and the chance to live life to the full. But sadly, there are thousands that do not have this luxury. I was one of those unwanted pets once. A little kitten dumped in someone's garden. Luckily, I was rescued by Wood Green and taken to the animal charity's London shelter where, at 10 weeks old, I met my mum Marie when she came looking to adopt me.

This is the photo she saw on the website before she came. No wonder she fell in love with me!

Just where would I be now if it wasn't for all the kind staff and volunteers at Wood Green and my mum? I don't want to think about it. But what about all the other abandoned pets who for some reason aren't so lucky?

That's why we are supporting National Unwanted Pet Week. We want to help other animals and raise awareness. They deserve a loving forever home too. We hope you will join us.

National Unwanted Pet Week is a great idea! I adopted my cat after he has been abandoned when he was only six months old.

All the animals sheltered and cared for by organizations such as Wood Green are the lucky ones waiting for their forever home. There's so much work to be done to decrease the number of homeless animals.

Cool post. I hate the 'unwanted' part!

Agree. No pet should be unwanted, but sadly there are some very cruel humans about.

Yes, I'll always be grateful to them for introducing me to the most affectionate, loving, little fur ball.

Thank you. Let's hope they all find homes. They all deserve it.

We hope so too. It's heartbreaking to see so many homeless pets.

When I met her we bonded straight away. I knew I had to take her.
