"Please help us, we are drowning"
We are so heartbroken that this amazing cat charity is going through such a horrendous time right now. Yesterday it was so stormy with dreadful thunderstorms and floods in many parts of the UK, and unfortunately, The Scratching Post, which isn't very far from us and one we like to support was hit bad and the shelter has been left flooded.
From the charity fundraising page:
On 29th May 2018 the storm hit pretty bad, and the shelter began to flood. It is estimated to cost somewhere in the region of £30,000 to re-build
Please please help us .......... we are drowning! |
The roof in the main unit was already having trouble but with lack of funding, we kept trying to hold it together. We knew from previous inspections that the only way to fix it was to knock the whole unit down and rebuild it. The owner, Susan Delaney says "Its been threatening to fall down for some time now".
Sadly, there was another surprise awaiting us, and during the storm, Q1 unit started to flood. We couldn't see where the water was coming in from at first until we discovered it was coming in from under the floor - the cattery is indeed starting to sink. We have now also seen water in two pens in Q2 which may also start sinking soon.
These are clearly desperate times that will not only put a massive (possibly incurable) strain on the charity, and the cats themselves, but also on rescue per se as we cover such a wide area. We are currently sinking and desperate for your help. Susan Delaney said "I have so much in my head I can't even find myself"
Please donate through the link below and share far and wide 💚

That is awful! I wish I had some money to donate, but I am always in debt from my vet bills. XO
Oh my goodness. That's horrible. We will share this on Twitter!

If you can share that would be a great help I'm sure :)
Thank you :)
Thank you. Let's hope the kitties are OK. The weather has been really nasty of late.
