Sunday Selfie, Father's Day and a #FreeBook

In my selfie for today, I am perched up high on my scratching post awaiting more adoration from my public (and Mum).

Speaking of Mum, her book Frozen in Time is FREE on Kindle again. She figured all the hard work of writing her books, especially this historical vampire trilogy did not pay off and she did not become the successful author she had hoped to be. With that idea, she told me the other night that she might as well give it away since no-one is willing to pay for it. Self-published in September 2011, the novel (and trilogy) took her years to write, plus years and years of research. It was a story inspired by two of her favourite movies Interview with the Vampire and Bram Stoker's Dracula (which starred the excellent actor Gary Oldman) and of course the Hammer films starring Christopher Lee which Mum loved to stay up late and watch as a young girl. Her dad though actually had a phobia of watching any of the Dracula films. Funnily enough, some people thought he had a passing resemblance to Lee.😻

Today is Father's Day of course. Mum is thinking of her late dad, who passed away in 2010 before he got the chance to read any of Mum's books or to meet me. Mum misses him, even though their relationship wasn't all that great. They sort of made up when he got ill though. From the photo below, you can tell she adored her daddy as a young girl.

Hugs and purrs to anyone missing their father today xx 💚💓

What a very nice photo of you with your dad. I didn't know you'd written that series of books. Off to check it out!

Your Granddad was a handsome man. I love your Mum's writing and I enjoyed all the books I have read of hers which is everything except the vampires because I am also afraid of vampires. My Aunt let me watch Salem's Lot when I was 10 and I kept my neck covered in bed until I was about 40. She can still become a famous writer- never give up.XO

Your Mom shouldn't give up on her dreams. Although personally we think she should write YOUR biography, but then we always find cats more interesting then people. Our Dad was away, but our Grandpa came to visit so we had a nice Father's Day after all.

Athena, I believe that your mom's dad knows all about you and her books, 'cause he's watching from the other side. Happy Dad's Day!

Mom has always luved watching vampire movies new and old versions. She also is a big fan of Anne Rice stories. She can't wait to read your mommas series, too! She says your grandpa was a handsome one. Winks.

Your writing is great :)

Yeah, I have. I was a writer of vampire novels and an 80s novel before I became a cat blogger and cat author.

I prefer blogging and writing about cats, though.

I just want to write about cats now.

He was handsome and he knew it. Shame he had his demons, but then don't we all?

Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty said...

Aww... thanks. I do miss having a dad.

Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty said...

Thanks. He was.

Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty said...

I hope so. I dedicated that one to him because he loved his Greek Mythology :)

Athena Cat Goddess Wise Kitty said...

Thanks. He was handsome but he let himself go with the booze which eventually killed him in the end. I think I've inherited his addiction gene but I won't let it destroy me.

It's free on Kindle for a couple of days. And yes it's on Kindle Unlimited too. Thanks for buying my story!
