END BARBARIC CAT DISSECTION IN AMERICA’S SCHOOLS

This is absolutely shocking and heartbreaking. Most cat lovers are probably unaware that this barbaric cruelty is still going on in the 21st Century πŸ˜ΏπŸ’”

How can any person do this? Horrific and no need!😑😾

From Ladyfreethinker.com

America’s schools and universities are responsible for the killing of thousands of cats, using the animals’ lifeless bodies for dissection in a practice that is completely outdated and unnecessary.
The cats whose lives are callously tossed away are often lost pets, ferals or shelter animals who are injected with formaldehyde and vacuum-sealed in plastic bags so students can cut them up in science class.
In some horrifying cases, the corpses are abused in student “games.” Online videos have exposed students using dead cats in a choreographed “dance,” and jumping rope with the intestines of dissected felines. In one video, the corpse of a cat is placed on a car windshield as a practical joke.
The fact that many medical schools no longer use animal dissection indicates there is absolutely no need for this barbaric practice.
Not only is dissection borne from animal abuse, but it encourages young people to de-value the lives of animals, and desensitizes students to animal suffering.
Sign this petition to urge the United States Secretary of Education to ban cat dissection in all places of learning and use humane alternatives to teach science in America’s classrooms."

Mumsey is an affectionate, older lady of 15 years and is looking for a loving, forever home to spend her retirement years. This pretty lady has spent most of her life living in a hotel enjoyed greeting guests and staff members and simply enjoying all the fuss and attention. Mumsey is being looked after by the Heydon centre. Find out more here.

More homeless pets looking for forever homes can be found on my Mum's Pinterest Pet Rescue board.
Disclosure: I received no compensation for this post. As a rescue kitty myself I want to help other rescues find their forever home, so each week on Charity Tuesday I share adoptable cats from Wood Green, the Animals Charity (which is where I was rescued) and some other charities dear to our hearts. Mum and I are so grateful to Wood Green because without them we would never have found each other!

I signed and shared. I still feel guilty that we had to dissect a cat in Anatomy and if you did not participate , you failed. Now, I would refuse, back then I feared failing because my mom would kill me. I managed to avoid any cutting, but I had to be there, it was awful. XO

Ellen - that sounds awful. Thanks for being honest and I'm sorry you had to go through that.

The whole dissection thing is why my human wouldn't take biology in high school - she didn't want to cut open a dead frog. She thought it was terrible. The whole practice is beyond disgusting and it destroys some of the humanity of anyone who participates in it.

I signed and shared and it brought back AWFUL memories from college. The Nursing students used to have to take a class called Cat Anatomy. I will spare the AWFUL details :(

One of the reasons my momma didn't not take Advanced Placement Biology II was the required cat dissection. And being her, she gave her friend who did take it complete sh!t for it.

I remember in high school, one of the science electives dissected cats. When I reacted with horror to hearing about it, I was reassured that it was "just" ferals. And how does that make it better?!?!? No thanks!
