As it's Walk in the Park Day today, our theme is Walking and/or Walking in the Park songs.
Note: The theme was decided some weeks in advance. Who would have thought most of us would be in lockdown due to that evil virus thingy back then?
Even if you can't get out to the park today due to lockdown and social distancing, you can still sit back and listen to some great walking songs from the safety of your own home.
Before we get onto our song list, Mum would like to say a huge thanks to Cathy for inviting her to co-host. It's been lovely and fun. We've loved sharing our music choices with you and we hope you all enjoyed them!
Keep safe and keep listening to music, everyone xx
THE STRAY CATS - Stray Cat Strut
Well, of course, we're gonna pick this one! Cats rule and this is a super cool song. Mum tells me it's from the early 80s.SAM BROWN - Walking Back to Me
One of Mum's favourite female singers.THE POLICE - Walking on the Moon
Walking on the moon sounds fun, doesn't it? Cool song from a very long time ago!NIGHTWISH - Walking In The Air
Tarja Turunen was the original lead vocalist of Nightwish and she sang on their cover version of this song which was written by Howard Blake for the 1982 animated film of Raymond Briggs' children's book The Snowman. Here is another version of the song by her
The one below is from a live performance in 2000 at Tampere, Finland.
THE SMALL FACES - Itchycoo Park
This is so catchy and Mum has always liked it. She is really into that 60s music scene and most of her favourite songs are from that era. This is from 1967 - a very long time ago and Mum was only a baby!THE LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA MacArthur Park
We prefer this version to the original by Richard Harris

World of Animals
Great choices! We've enjoyed your topics this month.
Almost picked the Stray Cats but didn't. Great set here.
Athena & Marie,
'Stray Cat Strut' video wouldn't play on your site and I had to find it on YT but managed to listen. ;) You can't stop this CAThy from boogieing. I thought I had I featured 'Walking in the Air' by Nightwish on my site but I hadn't. I do like this song, though. Thinking about this band, brings to mind the new Netflix series we're watching, Bordertown, which takes place in Finland. We're enjoying the show even though the English dubbed voices aren't a purrfect match up. :) Richard Harris' "MacArthur Park" is my favorite version of the song. The full orchestra really makes it special. Thanks for being this month's 4M honorary co-hostess and please let me know when you'd like to do it again. ;) Stay healthy and safe, my furriends. Sending love, hugs, and prayers your way. Have a boogietastic week!
Cathy - I know the Netflix show you are talking about. I have watched it too but in the UK we have English subtitles and no dubbed voices, so it's lovely to hear the beautiful Finnish language (even though I don't understand a word!)
Love, purrs, hugs to you. Stay safe x
Everyone - thanks for your lovely comments.
Much love and stay safe x
Purrs xx
McArthur Park done as a classical piece was cool.
Love,Love Love the tunes.thanks for the Dance!!!!!!
Sam Brown, the Police, all good, but MacArthur Park - there is hardly a version of this song I don't love (my favorite is Donna Summer's) this one great instrumental although I do miss the lyrics - I was singing along with it. Thank you for the trip to the park.
