Feline Friday, A Bit of Flashback, and Friday Fill-Ins

Happy Feline Friday!

tabby cat sitting on the sofa

Here I am in the living room sitting on the back of the sofa staring at Mum and trying to brainwash her into getting me more food. This could also be a Flashback Friday pic because the photo in the background is of my mum as a baby and her Mum and Dad (Granny and Granddad). The photo was taken a very very long time ago in the last century during the decade they call the Swinging Sixties. Mum looks so cute as a baby, though obviously not as cute as me when I was a kitten.

MARIE

1. Getting up in a good mood for me is like trying to nail jello to a wall. I love my sleep - it's a form of escapism for me.
2. I've never truly fitted in anywhere in this world. Only being around cats and nature I can feel whole and at peace. I don't feel human sometimes. And the way the human race is going I don't really care anymore.
3. If I had a dollar for every time someone told me I'm too quiet I would be rich.
4. I wish love for the planet and animals grew on trees. It does for me, anyway. I feel such peaceful energy around trees. I'm so glad I live near the woods now. Back in North London, before I moved to Essex, it was a nightmare and I felt suffocated for lack of greenery around me.

ATHENA

1. Getting Mum to get up from the sofa and feed me is like trying to nail jello to a wall. She says she's always feeding me and I need to go on a diet!
2. You should never let a human think they are in charge. Cats are not dogs.
3. If I had a dollar for every time Mum took a photo of me I would be rich.
4. I wish common sense grew on trees. Most humans are too stupid.

Please join us in sending healing purrs and vibes to our furriend Harvey.

Marie, I totally get where you are coming from. But from my perspective, we only don't feel human because we can't understand the motivations and nonsense of most of the other people on this earth. I'd argue that they don't fit in with us - whose hearts break so easily - whose sensitivity is so finely tuned. I think there are few of us with our humanity intact and this world just drags us down and almost makes us feel apathy when we can't take it anymore. I hope this makes sense to you. If you'd ever like to talk, I'm always here. You aren't alone and you don't have to be either. Besides, we can always talk about our cats - that makes just about anything better! I'm not just being nice either ... I mean every word.

Athena, if that look didn't make your mum get you food, nothing will! MOL The human race is in a strange and scary place right now. But our mom tells us to remember that everything in life and the universe goes full circle and light always follows the dark.

We are blessed to have a yard that is full of mature trees, and sitting on the back deck with The PO'M...any time of the year...is a slice of heaven. When I commute to the office, there are a few nearby parks that I visit on my lunch breaks. Trees, squirrels, birds...they soothe the soul.

That is a lovely photo of you, Athena.
The sixties is my favourite decade as I was a teenager throughout them. The music changed so much and became more exciting.

Thank you both for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. Your mum and I are so much alike, the first 3 could have been my answers too :) I don't think you need a diet, you are perfect. XO

What a great picture! I think going back to the 60s right now wouldn't be such a bad idea!

Athena, your answers are GOLD! The peeps found an oasis in our concrete jungle. There's actually a lake with Canadian geese about half a mile from our condo. They walk around the lake and feel like they're on vacation.

Did you succeed at brainwashing your mom into getting you more food, Athena? We bet it didn't take too much brainwashing with a face as cute as yours. And thank you both for joining in on the Friendly Fill-Ins! I really like how you answered #4, Marie. Not only would it be nice if compassion for the earth and animals grew on trees, but I completely agree that being surrounded by trees is such a beautiful experience. Walking through forested areas is one of my favorite things to do. I hope to live near or in a forest some day. And Athena, we also agree that it would be wonderful for humankind if common sense grew on trees. Purrs!
