Songs About Art #MewsicMovesMe

 Happy Mewsic Monday!

So, every Monday I enjoy picking songs with Mum Marie for the Mewsic Moves Me blog hop. In this music linky party participants share songs from YouTube or Vimeo on their blog.

This month’s honorary co-hostess is Cathy.

Today's theme is Songs About Art in honour of National Coloring Day

🎨

SPANDAU BALLET - Paint Me Down

Mum told me that this video was banned when it was released back in 1981. It probably wouldn't be now!

THE ROLLING STONES - Paint it Black

A classic way before my time and released the year Mum was born.

BELINDA CARLISLE - Shades of Michelangelo

This is just so beautiful. Mum had tears in her eyes listening.

DURAN DURAN - The Reflex

Not really about art but Impressionist artist Renoir is mentioned in the lyrics.

"I sold the Renoir and the TV set"

PAT BENATAR - Painted Desert

Mum has always like Pat Benatar (especially in the 80s)
but she hasn't heard this one before.

THE BEATLES - Paperback Writer

It's still about art. Writing is an art form :)

😻

Thanks for reminding my mom about songs she hasn't heard in a long time. They remind her of the good days back in college and stuff.

Athena & Marie,

I enjoyed your artist approach to this week's theme. You shared a few new-to-me tunes, like "Paint Me Down", "Shades Of Michaelangelo" and "Painted Desert". Thanks for joining the 4M crew on the dance floor. Have a boogietastic week, furriends!

The Human had to watch the Paint It Black video all the way thru. Your mom mighta been born the year it came out, but mine was already going to Stones concerts, MOL! And she still does...though she thinks the last time she saw them might have really been the last time-she and Mick both are getting too old for this! Ha ha meow!

Spitty - Thanks for that suggestion. Mum liked it a lot and Van Gogh is one of her fave artists!

Interesting selections of various colors. The Belinda Carlisle song didn't play (not blaming you - it's You Tube!) but it was well worth the short search to find a version playable in the United States. I love love love Paint it Black even without the sitar that's in the studio version. Spandau Ballet - I never knew this song and I guess I know why now - yup, I could see why this video was banned at one time or at least played only at the midnight hours. Duran Duran - another love. Thank you!
