Fireworks don't really bother me but they are annoying. Most times they are far too loud. Mum thinks they are horrible things because they upset animals.
There were a lot of those crazy fireworks going off last night because tonight, November 5th, is Guy Fawkes' Night. Yeah, people should wait until it's the actual celebration day. It's nothing to do because it's the weekend, They do it every year - letting them off days and nights before (and after too). Some idiots do light them during daytime too.
We don't really care. We just want to snuggle indoors and keep warm.
This photo wasn't taken during fireworks though. It was taken a few days ago. I make these eyes at Mum when she's at her desk and I want something.

Years ago, I recall enjoying fireworks. But now, it's just so, so awful. As you said, they go off days before and after, and rather than be controlled, they are right there in your neighborhood, whether you want them or not.

Athena, as I read a LOT of books that take place in England, this holiday appears with fair regularity.
A reason to have some fun and drink, I'm guessing, but we can always do without fireworks...so warlike, no?

We hear you, Athena! Our house backs on a ravine and it's likely kids who have to set off firecrackers before, during and after an event, for several days in a row. The ravine is wooded so they are disturbing wildlife as well.
Let's hope that future generations will be more considerate. In your case, Guy Fawkes has had a verrrrrrrrrrry long run. Purrhaps they could give it a rest.
